Candle Memorial Chain
September 2001
This Chain letter started circulating in various forms a week after the
events of September 11. Note that it does not list a date, only a time
so there is no way for you to know what day you are supposed to go
outside. It might be an interesting experiment to see how much of an
increase in background light would occur if everyone was holding a
candle I doubt it would be much though. You are welcome to hold up a
candle but don't expect to get your picture taken.
This one started with a request from the writer that everyone step out
and light a candle.
Friday Night at 7:00 p.m. EST step out your door, stop your car, or step
out of your establishment and light a candle. We will show the world
that Americans are strong and united together against terrorism.
Please pass this to everyone on your e-mail list. We need to reach
everyone across the United States quickly.
It then changed to say that the US was making the request.
Pretty impressive and another statement to be made if everyone
participates..... 10:30 EASTERN TIME.... 9:30 Central, 8:30 Mountain,
7:30 Pacific
The U.S. has asked that everyone step out on their lawns tonight at
10:30 and light a candle. They will be taking a satellite picture of the
U.S. and posting it on the news tomorrow morning.
Please pass this on to as many people as possible.
And finally it changed to say that NASA was making the request and was
going to take a picture.
