WTC Face In The Smoke September 2001 The picture of the burning World Trade Center with a face in the smoke has been making the rounds of the Internet after the tragedy on September 11. Many people have tried to read things into it, calling it the face of the Devil or Christ crying in anguish. However, you should keep in mind that it is just smoke that seems to look like a face in the same way that clouds often look like people, fish, boats, etc. What you make of it is up to you. As best I can tell, the photo is authentic. It was photographed by Mark Phillips and sold to Associated Press. You can see the photo on Mark Phillips website, www.stellarimages.com along with his statements. The image was also captured on video by CNN. 9 News in Denver has a copy of the photo plus a discussion with Mark Phillips about the photo.
